My Heart is Beeping

It started when I saw a new bracelet that my sister was wearing. When I asked her about it, she told me about the 'Global Night Commute', in which she had been involved. I listened, then quickly forgot about what she said. Later, I watched a video about the commute and became intrigued with an organization call "Invisible Children". When I arrived home, I went to their website, looking for a way I could be involved. I didn't find much that stuck out to me, so after a few days, that faded, too. Tonight, I watched the actual documentary and listened to some of the students involved. I may forget it in a short while, but the important thing is that I saw it. And I need to talk about it.
Invisible Children started with three college students who were looking for an adventure. When they ended up in Uganda, they found a life-changing story. There is a civil war there, and the rebels are creating a horrifying holocaust. Their lack of soldiers has caused them to find children, take them and turn them into fighters. When the children are abducted, they are immediately desensitized by being forced to witness executions and torture of their randomly selected peers. They are then essentially brain washed and trained to kill. The three guys who made the documentary met some of the abducted children who had managed to escape. The video goes on to show their interactions with the Ugandan people.
This video touched my heart and I feel the need to spread the word. IC is a 35 minute movie that is becoming an ongoing movement, nationwide. I encourage you to visit their website and see what you can do to help, or ask me and I will gladly lend you my copy of the documentary.

Jame, I'm glad you were able to watch the video. It's pretty astounding, no? Tell your readers about "My Heart is Beeping." That was one of the most touching parts of the story, and I'm sure people would want to know! Love you!
